A couple of weeks ago I encouraged participants of all ages to hatch an egg at this year’s Fitzrovia Fete in London. Maybe with a surprise inside? It was a draw, cut out and lift-the-flap kind of hatching, with a couple of my earlier children’s books to hopefully inspire participants. And there certainly were surprises. It was sunny, a hot day, the cover over my table lent a sort of pinkish hue to photos of the event. People danced, fairies paraded and a band played as visitors made magic happen on my drawing table, one of several table where creativity flourished.
