Last weekend on my visit to Nottingham I noticed Robin Hood’s arrow had been replaced. It was often stolen. Robin features briefly in my work in progress (see notebook above). Interesting to note he now has a second job, like many others these days.
While at the Castle Art Gallery I saw this painting by Laura Knight, who studied at Nottingham Art College. She later became an official war artist, painting at the Nuremberg trials.
The reference to the Art College reminded me of my brief time going to Life Drawing classes there, when I was about fifteen. The class was all male, including the model who wore a sequined posing pouch and sat by a one bar electric fire.
